HCA's Computer Science Club for the Win!

Last month, three of our high school students, Chance Elwell (senior), Ben Dunning (sophomore) and Carlos Vazquez (freshman), competed in TAMUhack 2018. This event is 24 to 36 hours long. During that time, teams of software developers work together to build a new computer program. The team from Harvest attempted to build a centralized platform to connect volunteers with people who need them. Within that limited amount of time, they were able to build and present a basic working prototype. Of the 581 participants, Harvest was the only group that was comprised of high schoolers. Every other team competing was college level and beyond. Of the 105 projects submitted, Chance, Ben and Carlos' program won the General Motors Core Values Award.

The Computer Science Club at Harvest is looking for more members! Events similar to TAMU are coming in the near future. For more info on how to join the club, email hca.cs.17@gmail.com

For pictures and additional details about the event, check out Tamuhack.com. For more information about the project the guys built, visit https://devpost.com/software/good-samaritan.

Congratulations, guys! We are so proud of your incredible work!
