1st Place Design for Fine Arts Director

HCA Fine Arts Director, Kate Oxley, won "People's Choice" and "First Place" in the Project Goodwill design competition. This event, hosted by Goodwill Industries of Fort Worth, benefits the local community services provided by Goodwill Industries. These services aim to provide opportunities and assistance to the homeless, at-risk youth, veterans, disadvantaged, and the disabled.

The night included a fashion show, design competition, and fundraising dinner. Designers competed to create an avant-garde, "blue carpet" look, using unconventional items purchased exclusively from Goodwill stores. From towels to pillows to curtains, there was no shortage of creativity! However, Mrs. Oxley seemed to have the most creative idea compared to other designers.

Modeled by seventh grader, Ananda, the gown was constructed almost exclusively of 85 deconstructed diapers. She also incorporated pieces of writing tablets that had been tea stained by bottled tea purchased at Goodwill and pieces of gold deconstructed Christmas decor. HCA is extremely proud of not only Mrs. Oxley's accomplishments and talents, but also, her commitment to participate in community service events such as Project Goodwill. Thank you for representing HCA!
